I urgently needed a keratin treatment for a performance, but my usual hairdresser was fully booked for the next fortnight. I've been loyal to my hairdresser for over two years now because I struggle to trust any other stylist not to chop off too much and allow me to maintain my long hair. I was transparent with Karen about the need for a low-maintenance keratin treatment for my performances, my time constraints, and my trust issues. Karen took her time to ensure I was comfortable, explaining her process, the reasons behind it, and how to care for my hair. Her hairdressing skills are truly remarkable. I have Cook Island Māori hair that tends to frizz, and I'm certain I was mistaken for a different ethnicity due to how smooth and glossy my hair looks now 🥰. Honestly, couldn't recommend this place more. We visited for both endless brunch and dinner (the pics are from brunch). The kai is outstanding - especially the loaded chips, and the ambiance and vibe were spot on. Big shoutout to the kaitiaki who remembered us the second time we returned, always brings great energy and chats, and definitely didn't skimp on refilling the drinks for the endless option. Will definitely be returning for a third time (and beyond)!

I booked in to get a Keratin treatment on Friday afternoon at the Grey Lynn branch. The communication on arrival was very minimal. I believe that I was given hair straightening with much stronger chemicals instead of Keratin or that the treatment was not done correctly. After the first application, it was washed out very quickly, when I asked why, my hairdresser said it was because my hair was too dry. My hair was not too dry to start with and Keratin has never dried it out before. Also at the end of the treatment, the product was washed out entirely instead of only partially washed out. The hairdresser put a conditioning treatment through my hair before letting me go, because it was so dry. I should have questioned more, but it's very difficult to do so when your hair is in someone else hands. I've had to go to my regular hairdresser and buy nearly $100 of products to keep my fried hair in decent condition. It is dried out, the colour is faded, and it's frizzy in the middle with some breakage at the back. My hairdresser was surprised at how dry it now is. I attempted to leave a message on Instagram, but it did not allow this. The treatment took 4 1/2 hours instead of 3 hours. I would not recommend this hairdresser for this treatment.
