After driving past Gaya numerous times, today I decided to try them out. Pleased to say I left very satisfied. They delivered the haircut I wanted after showing them a photo. I am very skilled with the scissors and took my time to ensure the haircut was to your liking. It is reasonably priced and includes a hair wash. You will return here for your next haircut. Thank you. My last hairdresser shifted towns. My hair became thick and dry after 8 months without a trim. I decided to try a new stylist. I booked a dry cut with Aroha. I washed my hair and went to the salon with slightly damp hair so she could cut my medium texture 2b-3b curl type. I showed her pictures and specifically asked for long layers without thinning during the consultation. She listened and mentioned that thinning can lead to frizz in curly/wavy hair. Unfortunately, during the cut, she started using thinning shears about 2/3 of the way through. She said it was just to frame my face, but then proceeded to thin out the bottom. Afterward, she straightened it with a dryer and round brush. She continued to thin with regular shears from the midsection down. In conclusion, it would be a nice cut if my hair was STRAIGHT. However, on my natural WAVY/CURLY hair, it turned out far from nice. I now have a frizzy mushroom/jellyfish look. I've been loyal to my hairdresser for over two years now because I struggle to trust any other stylist not to chop off too much and allow me to maintain my long hair. I was transparent with Karen about the need for a low-maintenance keratin treatment for my performances, my time constraints, and my trust issues. Karen took her time to ensure I was comfortable, explaining her process, the reasons behind it, and how to care for my hair. Her hairdressing skills are truly remarkable. I have Cook Island Māori hair that tends to frizz, and I'm certain I was mistaken for a different ethnicity due to how smooth and glossy my hair looks now 🥰. Was warmly greeted by Jack and the team. Spent hours reading reviews before booking my appointment, determined to visit this salon. Unaware that they were the team that had relocated from Queen Street (the salon I was trying to book into but couldn't find), I used my "new customer full head highlights package" voucher. Only had to pay an extra $45 for toner due to my dark hair, knowing it would take multiple sessions to achieve the blonde shade I desired. Held back tears of joy upon leaving, thoroughly impressed and delighted with my new haircut and color. Had avoided salons for a while due to dissatisfaction with previous cuts and colors, so I was quite nervous initially. But wow! Visiting Vivo at Britomart was definitely the best salon experience I've had! The staff are welcoming, friendly, and warm. You're even greeted by lovely large plants throughout the salon 🥰 Loved the unique setup of this salon compared to the usual ones (mostly male hairdressers, which I absolutely love). Jack is extremely knowledgeable and will guide you through the process, ensuring the color turns out even better than expected. Peter provided helpful recommendations for future treatments with other hairdressers here in the Bay of Plenty. Highly recommend visiting Vivo at Britomart! The atmosphere is spot on, and I can assure you'll leave swishing your hair like in Pantene ads haha. Love these folks, wish they were located in the BOP region as this would be my go-to salon for sure.

I booked in to get a Keratin treatment on Friday afternoon at the Grey Lynn branch. The communication on arrival was very minimal. I believe that I was given hair straightening with much stronger chemicals instead of Keratin or that the treatment was not done correctly. After the first application, it was washed out very quickly, when I asked why, my hairdresser said it was because my hair was too dry. My hair was not too dry to start with and Keratin has never dried it out before. Also at the end of the treatment, the product was washed out entirely instead of only partially washed out. The hairdresser put a conditioning treatment through my hair before letting me go, because it was so dry. I should have questioned more, but it's very difficult to do so when your hair is in someone else hands. I've had to go to my regular hairdresser and buy nearly $100 of products to keep my fried hair in decent condition. It is dried out, the colour is faded, and it's frizzy in the middle with some breakage at the back. My hairdresser was surprised at how dry it now is. I attempted to leave a message on Instagram, but it did not allow this. The treatment took 4 1/2 hours instead of 3 hours. I would not recommend this hairdresser for this treatment.
