I switched to Kiara on a mates suggestion after my previous hair stylist closed shop. Being picky, finding a new hairdresser who could meet my high standards was a challenge. However, Kiara has been an excellent choice. She nails the colour, blow dry, and cuts my hair just the way I like it. I always receive heaps of compliments post-visit. The cozy and friendly vibe of the salon is another plus. Kiara and Jack are a delightful, skilled duo that I wholeheartedly recommend. I enjoy the ambiance and the individuals working there are very pleasant. However, during my last visit, I was squeezed in for an appointment when they were clearly pressed for time. The manicure felt rushed, lasting less than 10 minutes, yet I was charged the full price. The quality of the manicure was subpar. If the salon is fully booked, I recommend avoiding walk-ins to ensure each client receives the complete service they deserve. I booked in to get a Keratin treatment on Friday afternoon at the Grey Lynn branch. The communication on arrival was very minimal. I believe that I was given hair straightening with much stronger chemicals instead of Keratin or that the treatment was not done correctly. After the first application, it was washed out very quickly, when I asked why, my hairdresser said it was because my hair was too dry. My hair was not too dry to start with and Keratin has never dried it out before. Also at the end of the treatment, the product was washed out entirely instead of only partially washed out. The hairdresser put a conditioning treatment through my hair before letting me go, because it was so dry. I should have questioned more, but it's very difficult to do so when your hair is in someone else hands. I've had to go to my regular hairdresser and buy nearly $100 of products to keep my fried hair in decent condition. It is dried out, the colour is faded, and it's frizzy in the middle with some breakage at the back. My hairdresser was surprised at how dry it now is. I attempted to leave a message on Instagram, but it did not allow this. The treatment took 4 1/2 hours instead of 3 hours. I would not recommend this hairdresser for this treatment. My experience might be a tad different from others as I came in as a hair model for the wonderful Harper.
She displayed her vision and made sure I was comfortable with it throughout the process, asking for my input, even though I was there as a model for her to have full creative freedom.
She crafted such a stunning look and kept me well informed on how to care for my hair properly after transitioning from dark brown to blonde. I was invited to come back as a model for another style which was also fantastic! And once again, she ensured I was comfortable with it throughout the entire process!
Later on, I was given the choice to change my hair to anything I desired after my time as a hair model, and I returned to my natural hair colour, the colour match is incredible! No distinction between the previously blonde hair and regrowth!!
I had never been to a salon before to get my hair done, and Harper and the crew made it such a wonderful experience 🥰About

Honestly, I really wanted to enjoy this spot but my experiences with Brazilian waxing here have been below par on multiple occasions. I've tried 3 different therapists and each time, they've missed spots, disregarded my preferred shape, and despite requesting hard wax, Ruby still used strips for most of the Brazilian. There should be an option for extended appointment slots so that if a client prefers hard wax, the esthetician can take their time as I understand it requires more precision to let the wax set.

Watch out for Rick the hair guru. I was 15 minutes late for my appointment due to heavy traffic. Sadly, with no remorse, they overreacted, were rude, and continued to give me attitude throughout my visit, venting their frustration on me. There were hints of discrimination when I mentioned I was coming from South Auckland. They couldn’t care less for my explanation or my apology for the lateness.
Then I was informed that curtain bangs and face-framing styles aren't suitable for wavy hair, even though I've had these styles before. This whole ordeal could have been avoided if they weren't so petty, unprofessional, and lacked basic customer service. My experience in the salon sadly didn't align with the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere I've seen on social media about Commune and its representation for all individuals, ethnicities, and genders. I would have gladly rebooked, but instead, I was left feeling unwelcome, judged, uncomfortable, and let down. I have never faced this kind of mistreatment from any other service provider.
