My experience might be a tad different from others as I came in as a hair model for the wonderful Harper.
She displayed her vision and made sure I was comfortable with it throughout the process, asking for my input, even though I was there as a model for her to have full creative freedom.
She crafted such a stunning look and kept me well informed on how to care for my hair properly after transitioning from dark brown to blonde. I was invited to come back as a model for another style which was also fantastic! And once again, she ensured I was comfortable with it throughout the entire process!
Later on, I was given the choice to change my hair to anything I desired after my time as a hair model, and I returned to my natural hair colour, the colour match is incredible! No distinction between the previously blonde hair and regrowth!!
I had never been to a salon before to get my hair done, and Harper and the crew made it such a wonderful experience 🥰About

Elouise and her team are absolutely fantastic. Incredibly warm and kind, they truly take the time to grasp your desires and then tailor their approach to suit your unique mane. Past hairdressers never quite grasped my vision, but Elouise and her team not only listen attentively but also ask the right questions to ensure the end result aligns perfectly with my hair type. My hair grows at a snail's pace, so there's no room for subpar styles. Watch out for Rick the hair guru. I was 15 minutes late for my appointment due to heavy traffic. Sadly, with no remorse, they overreacted, were rude, and continued to give me attitude throughout my visit, venting their frustration on me. There were hints of discrimination when I mentioned I was coming from South Auckland. They couldn’t care less for my explanation or my apology for the lateness.
Then I was informed that curtain bangs and face-framing styles aren't suitable for wavy hair, even though I've had these styles before. This whole ordeal could have been avoided if they weren't so petty, unprofessional, and lacked basic customer service. My experience in the salon sadly didn't align with the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere I've seen on social media about Commune and its representation for all individuals, ethnicities, and genders. I would have gladly rebooked, but instead, I was left feeling unwelcome, judged, uncomfortable, and let down. I have never faced this kind of mistreatment from any other service provider.

Was warmly greeted by Jack and the team. Spent hours reading reviews before booking my appointment, determined to visit this salon. Unaware that they were the team that had relocated from Queen Street (the salon I was trying to book into but couldn't find), I used my "new customer full head highlights package" voucher. Only had to pay an extra $45 for toner due to my dark hair, knowing it would take multiple sessions to achieve the blonde shade I desired. Held back tears of joy upon leaving, thoroughly impressed and delighted with my new haircut and color. Had avoided salons for a while due to dissatisfaction with previous cuts and colors, so I was quite nervous initially. But wow! Visiting Vivo at Britomart was definitely the best salon experience I've had! The staff are welcoming, friendly, and warm. You're even greeted by lovely large plants throughout the salon 🥰 Loved the unique setup of this salon compared to the usual ones (mostly male hairdressers, which I absolutely love). Jack is extremely knowledgeable and will guide you through the process, ensuring the color turns out even better than expected. Peter provided helpful recommendations for future treatments with other hairdressers here in the Bay of Plenty. Highly recommend visiting Vivo at Britomart! The atmosphere is spot on, and I can assure you'll leave swishing your hair like in Pantene ads haha. Love these folks, wish they were located in the BOP region as this would be my go-to salon for sure.
