Absolutely top-notch salon! No surprises here with all these glowing reviews - Kim is just fantastic. She really tuned in to my needs and knew precisely what my hair required - the colour turned out stunning, and the cut was spot on. Balayage was new to me, so I needed an expert, and Kim definitely fits the bill (she mentioned she's got 25 years under her belt). I've tested out many of the well-known salons in the area, but now I'm a loyal Mēraki client. As an added bonus, this is a locally-owned salon, and it's awesome to back a high-quality small business as we head into 2021. Would rate zero stars if able. Requested a number 2 shave on the sides and a slight tidy on top. However, the barber proceeded to chop random chunks from the top, varying in length from half an inch to 2 inches, and butchered the sides. Due to anxiety, my partner found it hard to speak up but was left devastated. Upon requesting a refund, they insisted on attempting to "fix" it, resulting in the top hair being cut even shorter! It looked awful (refund was given). This incident led to my partner crying, a rare sight. To the barber responsible for the disastrous haircut, own up to your mistake next time instead of appearing smug. If you can't do the job properly, you shouldn't be allowed near anyone's hair. Welcoming, knowledgeable, but post-consultation follow-up is lacking in my experience, attempted to contact the salon multiple times to inquire about my results but no one answered the phone on any occasion I called.. day before my next appointment and still clueless about whether my hair was suitable for the service I desired - ended up having to visit the salon only to discover my appointment was going to be canceled anyway due to illness - not the first instance this has occurred with a booked appointment but I understand illness happens, was offered to reschedule but I was frustrated with the whole situation and went elsewhere. I am trained and qualified as a junior stylist and have previously worked in a salon as a junior on apprenticeship, so I know what should be expected from clients in terms of customer service, and the service I received was unsatisfactory. Wasn't too thrilled with my visit and the outcome. It was all over in a quick 20 minutes and I felt rushed in and out. Coming out of lockdown, I was hoping for a more relaxed, pleasant experience rather than a hurried, impersonal job. The stylist didn't take the time to understand what I wanted. No questions about the type of cut I desired (wet, dry, restyle, etc.) were asked, assuming I wanted a dry cut when I actually needed a restyle. If only there had been a discussion about options and a request for clarification from the start. Now I'm stuck with a subpar, budget "graduated bob" due to poor communication and lack of attention to detail.
