Didn't really feel I could say anything at the time, as didn't want to upset the lovely trainee who was just doing her best, and the senior stylist didn't seem to think it was a substandard service or didn't care.
Had a trainee cut here recently. The price with a student id/concession for a trim was between $49-69 (was told one price over the phone, but has a cheaper one listed online). I wasn't expecting the best cut of my life from a trainee, but something decent at least for that price. The trainee herself was lovely, and was upfront when I arrived about only actually being able to cut one straight length. Unfortunately, this wasn't communicated over the phone when I booked, so I felt a little disappointed as I was expecting just a trim, but for that to include trimming the different layers I have in from the last cut, as well as the fringe, and had driven across town and set aside the time for the cut. I assumed that as a trainee she would have a senior stylist as a supervisor to help her tidy up any little mistakes or help with trickier things, but I never saw her given any support or had a supervisor come and check the cut was ok.
