Co ordinated flying into gisborne to have a pre purchase inspection done, receptionist assured me if I flew in at this time he would book in the inspection at that specific time to then say he didn’t have time that day upon arrival.
Even though it was a Friday, past their closing time, old mate waited patiently for me to get back into harbour to get my van he'd done work on. Quick, honest, know what they're doing. Cheers!
I really like Pitstop. I’m new to owning a car and I am generally pretty ignorant to what terms are (though I am learning!). They’ve never made me feel stupid for asking things like “what’s a tune up?” And “why is my car squeaking?” And have told me what’s going on with total transparency. I’ve never been surprised with a cost and they’ve gone to extra lengths to source cheaper materials for me when possible (new fan belt was ~$30, as opposed to the $90 one they had in stock, they ordered it in for me) or made sure that what I needed for my car was top quality (I need a transmission flush on my 18 year old Honda and they’ve assured me they’re using the Honda brand transmission fluid as my car shudders and it’s a known issue, not cheap but necessary). The last time I came in my seatbelt wasn’t retracting and they fixed it as part of the WOF and taught me how to fix it myself with silicone spray lubricant to save money and for my car to be safe to drive. The only bit of feedback I’d offer is to call when the car is ready to pick up, but honestly it gets really busy there so I’m not surprised if they don’t have the time or it slips through the cracks. Overall, Pitstop might be a little bit more expensive than a backyard oil change but they’re thorough, honest, respectful, and take care of your car with professionalism and integrity. I’ll happily keep going back to them and will be booking in my transmission flush in the New Year. Happy holidays, team!
