Absolutely stunning museum and art gallery. Free for locals and $5 for visitors. Rotating exhibitions and a fantastic collection of local historical artifacts. The inclusion of works by local artists was a highlight. A must-visit if you're in Gisborne.
It's been years since I last visited, and the place feels and looks even bigger now. The Maori and European history sections are impressive. Although the new fabric art section wasn't open yet, I was amazed by the displays featuring old boats, surfing, fishing, and waka ama.
Always good to be back in Aotearoa to see this place. Beautiful pieces of local history to immerse myself in and reminisce about my childhood memories.
