Ever purchased an item online for in-store pickup to ensure it's reserved, only to find out it doesn't work that way at Mitre 10 Westgate, and they couldn't care less? I paid online and waited for the notification to pick up my order... after 4 hours of silence, I decided to head over. I thought even if I had to wait upon arrival, at least I'd know where to collect it, as I was unfamiliar with that store and the process. Upon reaching the counter, I informed the young man that I had a pickup but acknowledged it might not be ready since I hadn't received any communication. However, when he checked, he said, "We're out of stock, we tried to contact you" (they did not). I received a refund, but there was no hint of empathy for my 10 km drive. The receipt was handed to me dismissively, and without a word of apology, he turned away.
No issues with Mitre 10, but I had a disappointing experience with Mitre 10 Fundraising Sausage Sizzles. I bought two sausage sizzles for my children on Sunday, only to receive two "charred sausages" for them to eat. When I showed the sausages to the staff, I received no apology and was told, "This is how Kiwi barbecue sausages are." Having lived in New Zealand for over 15 years, I have never encountered such a poorly cooked sausage. What's amusing is that the staff flipped the burnt side down to hide it in the bread, clearly aware that what they were serving was subpar. It may be a small $2 purchase, but just because it's cheap doesn't mean customers should be treated poorly, especially when it comes to food! If you wouldn't allow your own child to eat a "charred sausage," why serve it to other children? Truly disappointing.
Always a delight at Mitre 10. Precise guidance and welcoming assistance. A young woman aided me in loading my purchase into the vehicle. Great parking facilities and the prices are unbeatable. I acquired the 2-door Christchurch unit, which was incredibly heavy. Assembled it myself and now using it as a storage cupboard. Adjusting the doors was quite a challenge, but I managed to figure it out eventually. Proud of my accomplishment in assembling it solo. The instructions were clear, although some parts weren't labeled properly in the instructions, requiring a bit of guesswork. Satisfied with the outcome, it's a sturdy unit overall. Hoping it stands the test of time. Exactly what I needed. Thank you, Mitre 10.
