This store is in a sad state, inside and out. Most of the shopping carts are broken and barely work. The folks at the checkouts are friendly and helpful, but the store itself needs a lot of attention. It could definitely use some renovations to spruce it up. I reloaded my HOP card at this top-up spot and used pay wave without realizing my card was blocked. While at this Chemist, I turned on my mobile data to unblock my card. I just want to confirm if the top-up was successful, as it was a female Maori-looking New Zealander who processed the transaction after I unblocked my card. I politely requested if she could check with the guy if the top-up went through. The Maori-looking lady haughtily replied, "NO--you have your receipt." Having the receipt doesn't guarantee the top-up reflected on my card. Wanting to be sure if the top-up went through, as I don't want to drive tomorrow, I stepped outside, logged into my HOP account, and showed her the transaction, indicating no addition to my previous balance. She insisted the transaction would show up tomorrow when I tag on, which is unlikely unless the top-up is done online. Topping up at HOP machines or outlets should allow immediate card use. I had to contact HOP customer service to rectify the issue. Very disappointing and not worth recommending. I visited the premises on a Thursday morning before 10 am on the 14th of March 2024 for a brow wax, finding no other clients present at that time. I was asked to settle a $12 fee prior to the service. An elderly individual attended to my brows. Throughout the treatment, she engaged in conversation with a colleague. Upon completion, I noticed that one of my brows was misshapen and crooked, seemingly due to excessive waxing or plucking, the exact method eluded me. I pointed out the error, but she adamantly denied any mistake, claiming there was no hair growth in that particular area before, despite the obvious difference in skin tone where the hair had been removed. Considering my naturally thick brows, I was certain of the alteration. She refused to acknowledge the error and even attempted to fill in my brows with a pencil before I halted her. Had she taken responsibility, I would have been understanding, as errors are human. However, unwilling to engage in a futile argument, I voiced my dissatisfaction and left. Her response was silence, staring at me as if struck by deer in headlights. While my brows will eventually recover, I shall not be revisiting this establishment. My advice is to focus on the task at hand and refrain from unnecessary chatter, as well as owning up to mistakes. Everyone is prone to errors. I hope that other aspects of the business are managed with greater attention.
