Re UNREASONABLE 40% Price surge of $3.00 for 1 petite in-store deli dish, targeting Fragile Disabled and Elderly buyers unable to cook their own meals, crucial for their dietary needs! grievance lodged on store website anticipating a LOCAL store MANAGEMENT reply/contact only to receive a Pak'nSave franchise Automated reply to pricing grievances! I've just got what seems like an Automated reply for all pricing issues you receive! I am greatly let down by this reply as it only informs me of facts I, as a consumer, am fully conscious of, and comprehend to an extent, and accept reasonable rates for price hikes, encompassing these in-store items. However, in this particular case, the excessive price hike I, as a disabled patron, have been subjected to is STORE LEVEL, being an in-store deli prepared meal specifically targeted at the elderly and disabled patrons who are physically incapable of preparing meals themselves, not to mention having to survive on a very tight budget/ benefit income only! I, personally, Along with many other disabled and elderly patrons, some of whom they have solely because I have recommended them to the excellent service they provide, have been purchasing several of the in-store deli meals weekly to fulfill much-needed dietary needs. They were priced at $7.99 for a small deli roast meal for one, and as informed by deli staff, only available on previously cooked meats, i.e., Chicken, Beef, and Pork, for sale that are “leftover”. Hence, a way for the supermarket to make additional profit while avoiding the need to write off the stock. Upon returning to the supermarket last week to purchase my weekly meal requirements, I was extremely shocked and upset to find the meals now priced at $10.99!!!! A significant $3.00, nearly 40%!!!! Increase!!!! Far surpassing any cost of living or products included price hikes!!! The rise has led to having to reduce the meals due to the increase in cost for the quantity my budget allows! What is even more distressing is that these meals are mainly bought by the local elderly and disabled patrons, most of whom do not have transportation and depend on these meals! This excessive hike is aimed at, and affecting the vulnerability of these consumers, a minority of the store’s turnover. A highly unjust and unwarranted move by what is marketed as “a community-oriented” supermarket!! I believe that this store needs to review this excessive hike and its impact on their vulnerable patrons accordingly as a “community” owner-operated store, and not “hide behind” the supermarket chain as has clearly occurred in this instance! Warm regards from a very dissatisfied and disappointed, disabled and concerned member of the vulnerable community.
I am from another land. I stumbled upon a gleaming clean, well-stocked Pak'nSave. The fresh produce not only looked vibrant but was indeed so. I managed to find all I required. The team members were incredibly friendly and accommodating. It's clear this supermarket is managed by an exceptional crew. 😊
