I felt targeted and trapped in the lighting aisle by a rude man who accused me of theft just because I am a person of color. I had purchased items from Kmart and had the receipts to prove it, yet I was still treated unfairly. It's disheartening to see such discrimination against women of color in this small town of Nelson. Warehouse Richmond, you need to do better.
The shopping experience was quick and convenient, but I did notice a lack of staff present. Only one checkout was open with just one staff member, which could be improved by adding self-serve options like Kmart or opening more checkout lanes. Apart from that, the store offered affordable milk and had a positive atmosphere.
At 44 years old, I was followed and scrutinized by store security simply because of my Maori heritage. The blatant racial profiling was evident, and I found it amusing yet disturbing. Avoid shopping here if you oppose extreme racism and refuse to justify such behavior.
