Our plan for the day was to head to Kaikoura
The baggage check-in was swift and simple, and the train was well-equipped with 4 seating options everywhere so my whānau could sit together. The views were insanely good, and we spotted a plethora of animals like Hectors dolphins, kākāpō, alpacas, pukeko, sheep, and more. I adored the mountain vistas meeting the sea, and my kids had a blast counting all the seals along the way. It was a nice touch to learn about the surrounding area as we traveled. The open back carriage with a railing was a favorite, offering an unobstructed view. Perhaps the best train ride I've ever had.
The Addington train station was spotless, with the air con cranked up, making it a comfortable spot to wait. The train crew were top-notch. So professional and polite. I've always had a hankering for a train journey. Next time, I'm bringing the whānau along. It's a unique experience for a reasonable price. Sit back and enjoy the ride. A truly stunning spot to park up and catch the train. I adore hopping on the train here, whether it's heading North or West. No jaunts to the East or South from here. Immaculate and well-kept. The exterior is a sight to behold! The staff are courteous and helpful.✅
