Warm service and tasty grub. Indoor and outdoor seating available, with reasonable prices and a brunch menu until 11 am. A great Sunday option when other eateries in Richmond are shut.
My old man loves the Stoke "Dark", while I prefer the Pilsner - so picking a dinner spot was easy! We arrived and grabbed a few brews to enjoy in the roomy beer garden, soaking up the last of the sun. Loads of seats and a chill vibe. The beers were icy and delightful. Moving inside for a meal, we opted for the chicken taco sharing platter as a starter. It was decent, though my only gripe was the chicken being a tad overdone, with the crumb coating tasting burnt, crunchy and dry. The tacos were fresh and soft, as were the veggies. For mains, both my dad and I went for the Fish and Chips, while my missus chose the Thai Mussels. Again, a bit of a letdown as the batter on my fish was a touch overcooked, likely due to the oil in the fryer being too hot. Dad's fish was grilled, so no batter issue there. The blue cod was fresh and tasty, the chips chunky, crisp and flavorsome, and the salad a perfect side. My wife savored the mussels, with the coconut Thai sauce beautifully complementing the plump, fresh and perfectly cooked shellfish. The venue exudes a nice, laid-back vibe, with glimpses of the brewery through the windows, and the washrooms were clean and easy to reach. Despite the slight overcooking of my fish batter, I'm still giving this place 4 stars as the overall experience was solid.
Sunday 27th Jan 2019. Dropped in for a late lunch post a long drive. Delectable food paired with a delightful array of beers to choose from. Opted for the poutine and spiced chicken wings alongside the Stoke Nelson Pale Ale (NPA). All incredibly tasty! Excellent service and a laid-back atmosphere. Highly recommended.
