Complimentary geothermal springs merging with the river. The water wasn't overly warm but a pleasant contrast to the river's chill. No charge for entry or parking. Ample parking available. Additionally, there are pathways and cycling routes to the Huka Falls. I highly suggest a visit while in Taupo.
The water is tepid, not scorching, and the river flow is icy. The rocks to access and exit the water are slick, so caution for those wobbly or wary. Lovely reserve and the water is crystal clear. Excellent duck-spotting.
