One or two long serving staff are absolute gems. The temporary or casual fill-in staff are usually quite helpful, but goodness gracious, the rest are just incredibly unpleasant power-trippers to interact with. If you frequent this place enough, you'll see or experience their inconsistent service firsthand. If you'd rather not witness such service, just read through their older and more recent reviews - the fact that they don't even bother addressing the negative feedback speaks volumes, doesn't it?
Where do I even begin... rude, deceitful, and just downright unprofessional at best, and at worst, cruel, power-tripping, and a threat to vulnerable individuals in need of medication. The lack of duty of care at this pharmacy has been evident for years, and it's only worsening. The pharmacy's monopoly has allowed the pharmacists to act with impunity. I've been given newly prescribed controlled medication without any information on requirements or potential side effects. Autoimmune medication has been withheld for weeks, leading to hospitalization. Personal information is carelessly discussed for all to hear. It's a corrupt and dreadful place to visit. While there are some exceptional staff members, they lack the authority to change this toxic atmosphere.
My most recent pharmacy visit was a disaster. I need to collect my medication daily and had never faced any issues here before. However, on my last visit before leaving Tokoroa, everything went downhill. I'm usually in and out quickly, but this time I had to wait for 45 minutes. One staff member kept apologizing, another left for the day, and the remaining two seemed indifferent. I was shocked. I had someone waiting in the car, and a journey to Wellington ahead of us. I had to ask one of the ladies to interrupt the pharmacist's lunch in the office to give me my medication so I could leave. Unbelievable.
