Absolutely fuming, popped into the shopping centre briefly and 3 days later received a $65 parking fine. Being a visitor, I didn't realize it was pay for parking since I frequent the Lower Hutt shopping centre often. It's more cost-effective to drive to Lower Hutt and back for a better shopping experience. $65 for a parking ticket is exorbitant, especially considering the limited number of stores in the mall.
Continuing with paid parking at The Mall will only deter customers. It's a ludicrous notion to drive away shoppers with the threat of a $65 penalty. Shouldn't the aim be to attract and retain customers, rather than pushing them towards free parking in Westgate?
Received a $65 parking fine for exceeding the time limit by just 2 minutes. The cafes are overpriced, with the only saving grace being The Warehouse. Save both your time and money by avoiding parking and shopping here. If you do receive a parking fine at the mall, remember that you are not legally obligated to pay it. You can also opt to remove your car's details from third-party entities like Smart Compliance NZ to avoid receiving fines. ;) I've settled my fine, but it's a valuable lesson for others facing similar tickets - you have options to avoid payment and protect your information from third parties. https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transactions/PersonalInfoAccess/entry ;;))))
