Waited for half an hour for a prescription, only to be informed that one item was unavailable and on backorder for the next month. Then, I was asked to wait an additional 10 minutes for the rest of the prescription. I requested my scripts back.
My Māori 17 year old brother faced discrimination about half an hour ago. A group of 5-6 Pākehā boys (around his age) entered the store together ahead of him, while he walked in alone behind them. The security guard then chose to single out my brother and follow him around the store until he left, causing him distress. He had come in to buy more foundation, intending to make a purchase. When he came to me at my workplace in tears, I immediately left and went to Chemist Warehouse to lodge a complaint. I spoke to a female staff member who said she would inform the manager. However, we were left waiting for an extended period and eventually decided to purchase the foundation and wait even longer at the door. Since I work nearby on Lambton, I visit the store frequently. From now on, I will go to Porirua or order online. If you encounter a tall, slender, bearded South Asian security guard wearing a black headband, I would not recommend entering the store.
