It was our first time visiting New Zealand and naturally we had to do a Lord of the Rings tour. It was fantastic! Our guide Stan was amazing! He was knowledgeable, fun, and punctual. We saw so much in the time we had. Highly recommend the full day tour. And if you can request Stan! You won’t regret it!
🤩 On our initial visit to NZ we had 3 Lord of the Rings tours scheduled on both isles. Tour was confirmed to proceed by Richard & we were blessed with a dry but windy day . I certainly didn’t expect such a fantastic day from start to finish & credit goes to the greatest tour guide of all time - Stan . We were picked up from the Oaks Hotel & Stan took us to significant landmarks in Wellington on the way to the incredible Weta Workshop. After an extended stay we moved onto Mt Victoria, Lower Hutt & Upper Hutt to witness the most remarkable locations that are key aspects of the legendary Trilogy . The tour covered a lot of ground & the short walks from the van were very easy to traverse. Stan is a wealth of knowledge he provided a lively & informative tour armed with his laminates that are very depictive when seen at the relevant locations . We had a top feed for lunch at a Lower Hutt venue & also were given an impromptu treat later in the day on the way back to town - I’m a huge horse racing fan & Stan took us happy travellers on a brief detour to Trentham Racecourse & a classic place called Brewtown plus some history thrown in about the former car assembly plants. Top day & highly enjoyed by All , dropped off at our hotels to top it off . 5 Stars . Yep - ask for Stan , Manowar said so !!
We had SUCH A BLAST!!! Oh, there wasn't a single gripe about this tour. It was thrilling to see the real sword of Saurmon and his armour not only that but to see where they filmed the famous "Get off the road!" scene and stroll down the path they used to evade the Nazghoul was just perfection. When we return we are definitely doing the full day tour.
