Choice lounge, located at international departure after security check and nearby the duty free. I wasn’t expected a nice lounge at this small airport but this is really surprising me. It’s worthy to walk in to lounge earlier instead spend time at duty free.
Is it just me or does all free kai taste choice? Actually no - a tad choice. But when you’re puku, free kai definitely hits the spot. That’s all the kai did. Hit the spot. In a fairly average way. The cheese could have been of a higher grade and the little wee wraps were too dry. Soup is mint though. And free wine is choice as. We love free wine. But what’s really mean as about the Christchurch Domestic Departure Lounge… is the acoustics!!! A HIGHLY underrated art form. Unreal in this lounge. Noise/cutlery clatter/chatter - all muffled and then brought together in the room to form a gentle hum. Very peaceful. Very impressed. More spaces with focus on acoustics plz. (the view at sunset was choice too).
One of the wahine staff (senior looking) is very rude and incompetent. She pushes her wrong knowledge to the point of inconvenience to the customers. Lucky the a lovely bloke from the next counter overheard her and corrected her. She wasn’t apologetic and she continued on being rude. I must say she does not belong to customer service. Zero empathy and minimal knowledge. Not a very good experience.
