Soular Tattoo, founded in 2013 by acclaimed artist Matt Parkin, offers a serene space for Artists to craft their pieces with privacy. In the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake that razed his previous studio, Southern Ink, Parkin envisioned a welcoming and dynamic environment at Soular Tattoo, catering to both artists and clients.
You can take the number 80 bus from the city centre to reach Soular Tattoo at Upstairs/299a Main South Road in Hornby, Christchurch. If you prefer to drive, head south on Main South Road from the city centre, pass the intersection with Carmen Road, and then turn left onto the street where Soular Tattoo is located.

Cool studio vibe! Their apprentice Toni is so talented and chill! She has a wide range of art styles in her portfolio and is open to completing custom designs. Definitely would recommend her skills and go to her again in the future
TONI IS THE BEST!!! Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better tattoo artist, so sweet and had such a gentle touch! I love my pieces so much, my first tattoos in Wellington and I’m so grateful they were done by her! Her designs are amazing and cannot wait to get some more done. Soular is also an awesome shop! Very clean and super cool. Highly highly recommend. ❤️
I've visited Soular twice in the last few months.. Pleasant friendly and relaxed atmosphere, great communication via email regarding appointments and via Instagram with the artist to discuss the design beforehand. My artist was Stefania, pleased with her work, a shame she's leaving soon but will likely return to Soular in the future :)
