My partner gets his hair cut at this place regularly, and the stylist from the Ormiston branch used to do a great job. I've visited Vivo Sylvia Park in the past for a simple trim with Ana, and there were no issues. That's why I decided to return yesterday. My appointment was booked for a cut and finish with Ana; however, I was attended to by another hairdresser (whose name I didn’t catch). I requested shoulder-length hair with a subtle curtain bang. I showed him three inspiration photos of what I wanted and made it clear what I didn't want: a sharp and opaque fringe look. When he began cutting the ('curtain’) bang, I thought he was working on a big section of my front hair. However, I am not an expert at haircutting, and I assumed this was the standard method for cutting curtain bangs. It went really quickly, and he was blowdrying my hair when I started feeling anxious and akward about the cut. At the moment, I thought it was because I was seeing my hair shorter after many years of having long hair. Looking back, I was in complete disbelief, and I needed to get out of there asap. Now, I'm left with an overly short and uneven opaque '70s fringe. I paid $85 for a mistake that I'll have to deal with for the next 6 months or more. I am now very self-conscious and anxious about my appearance, and I feel compelled to straighten my hair (something I've never done before) and use hair barrettes, which will likely cause further damage over time. That doesn’t even fix the mistake... Had an amazing time at the Mecca Sylvia Park store today. Huge thanks to the wonderful Max for his outstanding customer service, product expertise, and endless patience - convincing someone who has always used L'Oréal and Clinique products to try new brands is no small feat, but he successfully won over my nan, who is now a loyal Mecca customer. My nan hasn't stopped gushing about the whole experience this afternoon, "Max really listened to me, cared for me, and made me feel fabulous. It was such a blast, when can we do it again?"
