Witnessed a local individual known as "Kiwi Photographer" being turned away from a public building simply because he had a camera. This behavior is not reflective of Rangiora. It's a disappointing public display that tarnishes the town's reputation.
I came across a video online where a member of the public was denied assistance just because they had a camera. Don't they realize our right to document government activities? We should be able to film in public and areas accessible to the public. Aren't they aware they are public servants?
Recently saw a New Zealander photographer on YouTube attempting to file an official information request. It's disappointing how our public servants not only refused entry to a public place but did so in a very arrogant manner. It's unacceptable. If I could, I would give zero stars.
