Visited Hippopotamus for supper. Their spot is very classy and the decor is well put together. Opted for the Theatre menu. I may have set my hopes too high, but I was anticipating a spectacle of them plating our dishes right in front of us. Instead, we had a staff member do the plating in front of us, lacking effort or entertainment value. Just slicing the meat and serving it. This left me underwhelmed by the Theatre menu and somewhat dampened my evening and dining experience. We assumed there would be some cooking happening before us, not just slicing.
Don't get me wrong, the service and staff were genuinely warm and pleasant. I just feel they need to inject a bit of wow factor into the Theatre menu. I've been getting my hair cut at Calibre by Craig for years. He's the best men's hairdresser I've been to. The only time I've gone to someone else was when I was based outside of Wellington. The whole team is super friendly and cover the whole skillset of the modern salon. The coffee is good too and the banter better.

To get to Calibre Salon at 3 Queens Wharf, Wellington Central, Wellington 6011, New Zealand by public transport, take bus number 2 or 3 from any central Wellington location and get off at the Wellington Railway Station. From there, it's a short walk to the salon. If you prefer to drive, head towards Wellington Central and turn onto Jervois Quay, then take a left onto Customhouse Quay before turning onto Queens Wharf where the salon is located.

I adore getting my hair done at Forever Young! Such a peaceful atmosphere, and Jamie is such a skilled stylist (colour; highlights; cut - she's the best!). I always leave feeling EXTREMELY happy with my hair. Did I mention the amazing head massages?! (These are optional for those who don't like them - apparently this is a thing???). The salon is also next to a nail salon, so simple to get hair and nails done on the same day. Easy parking on Bay road, and cafes and shops nearby to visit when you're done to flaunt your new style. They're also super accommodating if you have little ones that need to come with you.
