The owner, Bella, was a bully, dissed my hair, worst experience ever, had to shell out $2000 to sort their mess. Aroha is incredible! I've been receiving acupuncture for my sprained and fractured ankle, and the pain has almost vanished after just a few sessions. I opted for a challenging placement (on my back, shoulder, and collarbone to complement my existing moko) and she custom-designed the entire moko from scratch, ensuring it fit precisely where I envisioned! She ensured my satisfaction with the design and placement and displayed remarkable patience 🥰 She has a gentle touch and works efficiently, making the tattoo process relatively painless and completing it in just 2.5 hours! Watch out for Rick the hair guru. I was 15 minutes late for my appointment due to heavy traffic. Sadly, with no remorse, they overreacted, were rude, and continued to give me attitude throughout my visit, venting their frustration on me. There were hints of discrimination when I mentioned I was coming from South Auckland. They couldn’t care less for my explanation or my apology for the lateness.
Then I was informed that curtain bangs and face-framing styles aren't suitable for wavy hair, even though I've had these styles before. This whole ordeal could have been avoided if they weren't so petty, unprofessional, and lacked basic customer service. My experience in the salon sadly didn't align with the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere I've seen on social media about Commune and its representation for all individuals, ethnicities, and genders. I would have gladly rebooked, but instead, I was left feeling unwelcome, judged, uncomfortable, and let down. I have never faced this kind of mistreatment from any other service provider.

I booked in to get a Keratin treatment on Friday afternoon at the Grey Lynn branch. The communication on arrival was very minimal. I believe that I was given hair straightening with much stronger chemicals instead of Keratin or that the treatment was not done correctly. After the first application, it was washed out very quickly, when I asked why, my hairdresser said it was because my hair was too dry. My hair was not too dry to start with and Keratin has never dried it out before. Also at the end of the treatment, the product was washed out entirely instead of only partially washed out. The hairdresser put a conditioning treatment through my hair before letting me go, because it was so dry. I should have questioned more, but it's very difficult to do so when your hair is in someone else hands. I've had to go to my regular hairdresser and buy nearly $100 of products to keep my fried hair in decent condition. It is dried out, the colour is faded, and it's frizzy in the middle with some breakage at the back. My hairdresser was surprised at how dry it now is. I attempted to leave a message on Instagram, but it did not allow this. The treatment took 4 1/2 hours instead of 3 hours. I would not recommend this hairdresser for this treatment.
