Visited Hippopotamus for supper. Their spot is very classy and the decor is well put together. Opted for the Theatre menu. I may have set my hopes too high, but I was anticipating a spectacle of them plating our dishes right in front of us. Instead, we had a staff member do the plating in front of us, lacking effort or entertainment value. Just slicing the meat and serving it. This left me underwhelmed by the Theatre menu and somewhat dampened my evening and dining experience. We assumed there would be some cooking happening before us, not just slicing.
Don't get me wrong, the service and staff were genuinely warm and pleasant. I just feel they need to inject a bit of wow factor into the Theatre menu. Spent my time watching one worker barely moving and the other man lazily on his phone, despite a long line of customers. After a single 40-minute cut, he took a food break, while we waited into our 3rd hour. This is now an awesome hair salon with new owners. They've done a fantastic redecoration and the salon looks and feels amazing. Open on the weekends as well which is fantastic. Jane took great care and gave me a superb haircut. I was thrilled with the whole experience and will definitely come back.
