Had a blast on the Awakeri Rail Adventures with Paul Francis, a former KiwiRail engine driver who ingeniously repurposed golf carts for this unique experience. After visiting another plunket clinic and receiving a warm reception from kind, compassionate individuals who encouraged me to drop by anytime, even just to say hello... my experience at the Whakatane Plunket clinic was quite the opposite. I didn't feel embraced. It seemed like we were an inconvenience, despite it being a drop-in clinic! We were advised not to return for a few months, giving the impression they didn't want to see us until then, regardless of the circumstances. I'm uncertain if I'll revisit after that encounter. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the woman we met.
